Staying at Atlantis in the Bahamas brings the typical family vacation to a whole other level. Atlantis is epic, full of adventure and a waterpark lovers paradise. However, the sheer size and number of activities can be extremely overwhelming. Here’s a bit of advice to help make your trip to Atlantis one for the record books.
Find a map and figure out where you’re going, because this place is HUGE!
Atlantis is a mega resort and it’s easy to get lost, which may be a good thing or a bad thing. On the complex you’ll find 11 swimming areas, 11 water slides, two Lazy River Rides, the protected Paradise Lagoon, The Dig, the Predator’s Lagoon, all of the marine life habitats and the ocean beach area. So pull out a map and go explore.
The food is expensive, but there’s hope
If you’re a guest of Atlantis or just coming to the resort from a cruise ship, you gotta eat. If you just eat/pay as you go, you’ll likely look at the prices and wonder if you can go the entire vacation without eating so you don’t have to sell off a kidney to pay for it. Needless to say, the food is expensive. However, there are some areas that are more reasonably priced such as the eateries near the marina and harbor. Another option is getting a meal plan, which ranges from $96-180 per day for an adult. Children under 11 are free as long as there is a paying adult on the meal plan.

Embrace your inner 10 year old self
It was not uncommon for us to be standing in line waiting to scream down a 200-foot body-slide, while being surrounded by pre teens in skimpy bikinis and board shorts. I’m sure we fit right in. Ha! We love waterslides and we’ve never had more fun going from the lazy river, up a conveyer belt and down the next slide without ever leaving our inner tube.
Atlantis is a place you don’t have to leave during your entire vacation. Everything you need is here: accommodations, food, entertainment and 141 acres of pure fun.
