Don’t let the frightful stories of the Bermuda Triangle deter you from enjoying this Atlantic Ocean gem. If you’re on the East Coast, you’re in luck. Getting to this exotic island could not get any easier. Here are a few reasons to put Bermuda on your to-do list:

  1. It is so easy to get to.

A quick flight from the East Coast will get you to Bermuda in about 2 hours. Several US airlines have direct flights, including Delta, American Airlines, Jet Blue and United.

2.  The Rum Swizzle.

Bermuda’s national drink originated here and is a delicious combination of rums including Black Seal, orange, lemon and pineapple juices, falernum (local sweet syrup) and a few extra secret ingredients! From a pitcher, strained into cocktail glasses, this island favorite is not too sweet and definitely not too weak. Served island wide from east end to west, Swizzle Inn’s Rum Swizzle is voted the best!

3. The beaches are B-E-A-utiful.

Horseshoe Bay Beach: This stunningly beautiful south shore beach is a curved stretch of pink sand and located in Southampton parish.

Tobacco Bay Beach: Located at St. George parish, this small beach is great for snorkeling and you get fascinating views of colorful marine life along with corals.

Elbow Beach: This beautiful south shore beach has a gentle curve resembling an elbow and hence such a name. It’s located at Paget parish. Although there is a private section of the beach that belongs to Elbow Beach Hotel, the public section is also excellent.

4. Bermuda is home to some of the best golf courses.img_4696

Ranked among the world’s best public golf courses by Golf Digest and named Bermuda’s finest course by the New York Times, Port Royal features 18 championship holes over 6,842 manicured yards, the longest and most picturesque course in all of Bermuda.

5. The hotels are high quality.

Dotting limestone cliffs overlooking a secluded pink sand beach and clear, blue-green waters, The Reefs Resort & Club offers beautiful ocean views. And because each guest room faces west, you’ll enjoy magnificent sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean as day softly gives way to evening.

Bermuda is the perfect destination for a long weekend getaway. Rent a moped, explore the island and seek out a pink sand beach.

Anything is possible with a little sunshine and a little pink.
