The Arusha Coffee Lodge is the perfect place to start or end an East African safari.  The plantation was our first stop on our 12 day safari adventure. What a way to meet Tanzania! When you first arrive on the property, you are greeted by the beautiful pool and gardens which certainly offers a warm welcome. Our arrival into Tanzania was late, so once we got to the hotel it was dark and we could not fully appreciate the grounds until morning in the daylight. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a smile and the check in process was smooth. Our luggage was swiftly brought to our room, while we learned the lay of the land.

Hidden amongst one of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations are 30 houses which are tucked in the evergreen coffee fields. Each room is actually a stand alone bungalow. IMG_6384

It can be an adventure just getting to your bungalow. If you’re lucky you might spot some of the locals…the baboons! We had to hurry to get this picture of one climbing a nearby tree. It was our first glimpse of African wildlife. IMG_6385

The bungalows are super cozy and nestled among the aromatic coffee trees. There is an in-room log fire and lighting it up is the perfect way to take away the chill of the night air. With a soothing rainfall shower and generous bathtub, a private outside terrace, a 32” TV with satellite service and attractive décor reflecting the theme of coffee, the bungalow invites guests to relax and unwind.

We only had 1 night at the Arusha Coffee Lodge, but it was enough to know that it was the perfect spot for our pre-safari layover. With a beautiful setting, easy access to/from the airport, and large, comfortable rooms, the Arusha Coffee Lodge was a great way to start our safari adventure.
